Friendster Service Update - Please read
Announcements November 17th, 2008Dear Friendster Community,
As you may have seen, Friendster.com has undergone maintenance at various times over the past few days. Friendster’s unscheduled downtime was due to a power outage at our outsourced data center in Santa Clara, California where Friendster’s servers are co-located along side approximately 50 other companies. As a result, Friendster, as well as a number of other online companies, experienced unscheduled and unavoidable downtime. At this time, Friendster is back online and our team is working quickly to restore everything back to normal.
Additionally, you may have experienced some inconsistencies with your friend count on Friendster. All of your friend connections and data stored on Friendster are in tact and will be corrected shortly. It’s simply taking some time for us to restore each user account as Friendster has over 85 million user accounts globally.
Lastly, if you’ve received any on site messages or SMS text alerts regarding our downtime or your friend count, please disregard them as they were initiated by members of our community and do not contain accurate information about what happened.
Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
-The Friendster Team

more power friendster!!!! love u. everything will be alright God will take care of friendster. hehheheh

Wow a power outage reason lolz!!! Please dont tell us that after having an 85 million data on the servers in Sta. Clara California friendster has no emergency back-up generator incase of power outage, people might not know but upon establishing any data centers including servers they should have a back-up deisel powered generator that would sustain the power of each incase of power outage to prevent the 85 million datas on the servers from being distrupted. So the question is how come it didnt have? lolz must be something wrong inside the management that lead to this hehehe.

NEW PROFILE HIJACKS THROUGH PROFILE COMMENTS!
if this happens to your profile, nobody can view or send you a private message anymore.
to avoid this, you should turn off approving comments automatically. hijackers may embed multiple hijack codes if you don’t turn this off.
hijackers will use your friend’s account to leave you a comment with a nasty web-address forwarding code.
if this happens to your profile, you must delete that comment. deleting this comment will not be easy because your profile will almost instantly divert to another website. to delete that nasty comment, you have to stop the page from loading further so it will be prevented from diverting to another website. it will be a lot of trial and error. you have to be fast enough to click the “stop-loading button” of your browser.
please share this message to all your friends.

so does this caching problem here that you talk about mean that we are screwed? This blog about fixing the problem within 24 hours isn’t working for us… the site is glitched and going crazy for the past week already…
We were thinking that some smart dude out there could have had the decency to anticipate power loss that could damage the design structure of the site. Its too bad no body ever thought of the obvious… meaning damage due to power outages that you are saying and using as your defense for this inconvenience we are having here…
in the mean time… I certainly hope our data isn’t lost forever… Next time we certainly hope you guys do the most obvious thing in first learning about computers and that is to make backups of every thing… I certainly hope we are not screwed here beyond all recognition
